Vancouver, B.C.’s first homicide of 2012 occurred alarmingly close to the United States women’s national team. The shooting happened around 8:45 p.m. PT on Tuesday in the Bar One restaurant inside the Sheraton Wall Centre’s north tower, the Vancouver Sun reports.
The U.S. women’s national team is staying at the Sheraton Wall Centre ahead of CONCACAF Olympic qualifying. U.S. Soccer said in a statement that no players or staff were harmed.
The entire U.S. delegation is fine and no players or staff witnessed the incident.
“U.S. Soccer has taken the proper precautions to ensure the safety of the team for the duration of the competition.”

CONCACAF Olympic qualifying begins at B.C. Place on Thursday, with the U.S. kicking-off on Friday against the Dominican Republic at 10:30 p.m. ET.
