United States defender Ali Krieger signed a new two year deal that will see her return to 1. FFC Frankfurt through June 2013. Krieger has been with Frankfurt since 2007, winning the treble in 2008 (UEFA Champions League, Frauen-Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal.
Markus Juchem at womensoccer has some quotes from Krieger and 1. FFC Frankfurt Head Coach Siegfried Dietrich on Krieger’s return to the club. She was out of contract since March and chose to focus on the Women’s World Cup, but it always seemed she would return to play in Germany, where she has become fluent in German.
Krieger took the past two weeks to relax following an exhausting second place finish in the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Following the World Cup, she spoke about leaving open the option of playing in WPS, but on Friday she chose to return to Frankfurt.
