Carolyn Blank tallied an 88th minute goal on Saturday at Yurcak Field to give Sky Blue FC a 2-1 win over the Boston Breakers.
Kelley O’Hara opened the scoring for the Breakers in the 50th minute when she finished a pass from Kelly Smith. The goal was O’Hara’s second of the season.
But Sky Blue FC quickly turned the tables. Eniola Aluko, who entered the match in the 26th minute for an injured (elbow) Adriana, scored in the 58th minute to level the game at 1-1. Blank then struck for the winner just before the end of the match. Both goals were assisted by Therese Sjogran.
Sky Blue FC (2-3-1, 7 pts.) stays unbeaten at home (2-0-1) and earns its second-straight home victory. Boston (2-5-1, 7 pts.)is now winless in its last four matches.
“I think one of our goals at the beginning of the season was win our games at home, because away points are hard to come by and I think, just, if we consistently win our games at home then we just keep racking up those points,” Blank said. “This is great for us to come from behind. It shows that we can.”
