Nairn joins D.C. United Women

Penn State midfielder and U.S. youth international Christine Nairn will join D.C. United Women for the 2011 W-League season.  Nairn is a native of Bowie, Md., close to the Maryland SoccerPlex in Germantown, the home of D.C. United Women.

Nairn is a U.S. youth international and even has two caps with the senior team.  She scored the game-winning goal in a 1-0 U.S. win over Canada on July 22, 2009, but she has not appeared with the U.S. Women’s National Team since.  She was part of the U.S. Under-20 team that fell out of the 2010 Women’s U-20 World Cup in the quarterfinals, losing to Nigeria on penalty kicks.

Nairn enters her junior year at Penn State this fall.  In two seasons with the Nittany Lions, Nairn has registered 14 goals and 16 assists.  Penn State won its 13th consecutive Big Ten Championship in 2010 (in 2010, the Nittany Lions were co-champions with Ohio State).
