The Atlanta Beat have signed midfielders Angela Salem and Katie Bethke. Salem played with Sky Blue FC in 2010 and Bethke will be a rookie in 2011.
Bethke played for the University of Minnesota from 2007-2010. In four years there, she scored 26 goals and added 32 assist.
“Bethke is a very skilled player who is exceptional in attacking one versus one’s,” Atlanta Beat Head Coach James Galanis said. “She is versatile and can play both outside mid positions as well as up top.”
As a member of the United States U-23 National Team pool, Bethke will compete with the team in the Four Nations Tournament from Feb. 21- March 2, 2011 in La Manga, Spain. The U.S. U-23’s will compete against England, Norway and Sweden.
Salem, a former Francis Marion University midfielder, played in just three games with Sky Blue FC in 2010. She registered 29 minutes of play.
