Several German media outlets are reporting that German star midfielder Fatmire Bajramaj was injured in the 80th minute of 1 FFC Turbine Potsdam 3-2 victory over USV Jena on Sunday.
The 22-year-old Bajramaj will undergo a MRI on Monday to determine what is wrong with her knee. German reports state that there is a suspected tear above her right knee.
Bajramaj was a finalist for FIFA World Player of the Year, which Brazilian forward Marta won for the fifth-straight time at the Ballon d’Or Gala in January. German striker Birgit Prinz was the other finalist. In 43 appearances with Germany, Bajramaj has tallied eight goals. She made her senior national team debut at just 17-years-old.
Germany kicks-off the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup on June 26 against Canada.
