WPS transactions update: More moves to come
Heather Mitts was officially announced as a member of the Philadelphia Independence Wednesday, as first reported on The Equalizer last week.

While it is yet another huge signing for Philadelphia, there is still a lot more that should be happening in the near future (dare I say, coming week?) across the league.  There are still some big name free agents out there (see: Carli Lloyd), and there are some deals in the wings that could shake things up even more.

Here is a quick breakdown of some things going on and some things to look out for:

LA Sol Close to Pavlína Šcasná Signing, Not Done Dealing

Los Angeles Sol General Manager Charlie Naimo said Monday that the team is not done with player movement.

After trading away Val Henderson and Allison Falk to Philadelphia last week, Naimo said that some fans were unhappy.  However, every move the team makes is well-thought out, he said, and there could be a couple more coming.

Naimo said that he is working on a two-part trade to get a "maximum impact from international players."  Judging by our talks, an international player may be on the move - it's just unclear as to which direction: in or out of LA.

No more details on that right now, but check back soon as the story progresses...

As for free agents Han Duan and Aly Wagner, Naimo said there is "no real upate."  It seems as though both might be headed elsewhere, particularly Duan since LA's international slots will be filled...

That is due to Czech international Pavlína Šcasná, which the team is close to signing.  Šcasná is a forward that Naimo describes as smart and hard-working.  She played for the Philadelphia Charge of the WUSA in 2003, and is still only in her 20's.

The Czechs missed out on Euro's this summer after a 2-1 loss to Italy in the final playoff round...

Sky Blue Returning Core

Sky Blue FC General Manager Gerry Marrone said that the team is not pursuing any big-name free agents, meaning U.S. international Carli Lloyd won't be making a triumphant return to her home state of New Jersey.

Australian Collette McCallum and Canadian Kelly Parker were let go so the team could explore more international options.  Sky Blue FC will look to use those slots on a defender.

"There's things happening," Marrone said.  "I've got an offer out to an international defender right now because obviously Christie (Rampone) is not going to be here for the first two months of the season so we need to fill a major hole in the central defense."

More on this and some other potential Sky Blue FC moves soon.

Boston Looking for Forwards

Tony DiCicco said late last week that the emphasis in the free agency market will be on finding some goal production up top, but there are also some shoes to fill in the back with the loss of Candace Chapman, Sue Weber and Heather Mitts.

Brazilian international Fabiana, however, will be back.  The only reason she became a free agent was due to a paperwork foul-up, but that has been resolved.
