Sky Blue FC leaks schedule, NWSL’s due Tuesday

Jeff Kassouf February 12, 2013 13

The National Women’s Soccer League is set to unveil its 2013 season schedule later Tuesday, but Sky Blue FC jumped the gun, making their 2013 schedule page live and still visible as of 12:20 a.m. ET Tuesday. According to what was posted (assuming it is the final version of the schedule), Sky Blue FC opens at home on Sunday, April 14 vs. the Western New York Flash.

However, it should be noted that only 21 games appear on the unofficial schedule that was posted. Each team was supposed to play 22 games.

So what happened to the extra game against ur rival and the 22 game season?

    • Kernel Thai

odd schedule WNY 4x, Wash 3x, Chi 2x, Seat 2x, Port 3x, KC 3x, Bos 4x …Ud think if they were gonna have 4 games against somebody it would have been Washington

Instead of this bizarre unevenly multiple schedule, would it not be better to have a parallel little challenge cup starting with the 8 NWSL teams and 8 other teams. If they played one round each month this could easily be accommodated within the season. After the first round each round could be drawn in the manner of the FA Cup. Thus, two giants could knock themselves out early and a dark horse get to the final and even to the top of the greasy pole.

          Maybe some day.

No time like the present! Ask Tiffany to design the ultimate ladies’ trophy.

With a Cup there will be the opportunity to do the “double”, which was rare before the wealthy clubs muscled in and pushed the small fry aside. Why should the ladies’ CL have the field for themselves?

      Seems a little unbalanced. 10 homes games & 11 away? Oh, well…

Scheduled released… still can’t buy tickets.

If this is indeed the final SBFC schedule, I’ll be pretty happy with it. Three games while I’m still in school (although, two of them are during reading days/finals week at Rutgers so that will be fun)

Zey tsjould haff a Kupp az vell ass ajnä leegaa. Haägen-Dazs rules — OK? Exschept in Schladming, where Austria and Sweden came away with the honors.

Your comment is very interesting; but incomprehensible.

“I see, I see”, barked the blind seeing-eye-dog. Your poiint is excellent but you forget that in the USA women playing team sports are the devil incarnate. They challenge the might of the testosterone. Whatever next? A woman president? Should women be allowed to drive?

You would be surprised at how litlle Kristi Yamaguchi earned compared with other less able girls next door who skated to a lesser standard. but who were more all-American. As for comparing the Williams’ sisters to that Russian lady who never won anything of note …

Of course, american airline-companies should be bending over backwards to ferry their wonderful lady soccer players around — but when the Nadeshiko world champions have to travel cattle-class while the U-23 men get to go business class — what hope for the losers?

Instead of playing ridiculous multiples of meaningless matches, the NWSL must concentrate on building traditions. Well understood, a white horse may be exaggerating, but a good old sing-along would not come amiss, like at the FA Cup final:

OK — in the heathen USA, try the Battle-hymn of the Republic? Yeehaw!!
